Novice Paddlers

INFO FOR BEGINNERS

NOVICE SEASON 2024

April 6 and 7: 10a-12p
April 8, 15, 22, 29: 5:30-7p
May 4 and 5: 10a-12p
May 6, 13, 20, 22: 5:30-7p

Beginner paddlers are required to attend novice practices to learn paddling technique and canoe knowledge. All paddlers need to know how to swim. Club paddles and personal flotation devices (pfds) are provided.

What to wear? Water-wicking clothes recommended (rash guards, neoprene or board shorts), dive booties or water shoes, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and paddling gloves (optional). Refrain from cotton clothing which will soak up water instead of repel water.

READY FOR AN OUTDOOR WORKOUT?

Please register in advance by submitting a liability waiver and Venmo $50 for April and/or $50 for May using the QR code at the bottom of this page. At the end of novice season, these payments will be applied toward your full membership.

REQUIRED HULI DRILL & SWIM TEST

Beginner paddlers are required to come to Novice Practices, initially, to learn technique and canoe skills.

All members and novice are required to take part in the Huli Drill (when the canoe flips over) and a Swim Test.
